Week 1, Day 1: Ground Breaking

We broke ground today!! Woo hoo! The Blackthorn Ridge project has finally started! Ron came over today and started popping out stumps, and moving dirt to create the driveway.

Gigi wanted to take pictures too with our little camera. It took me a few shots to realize she wanted to take pictures of the mud, not the bulldozer!

Popping out one of many, many stumps.

The beginnings of what will eventually be a VERY large stump pile.

Looking down our driveway, towards the road.

YAY!!!!!!!! How exciting. What did Gigi think of the big bulldozer? Love you guys! I'm off to make some place mats, big job compared to your. ;-)

Jen, this is wonderful news. Yay!

You live in a place so different from my day to day surroundings. I love it, so quiet, peaceful and simply beautiful.

Can't wait to follow the progress.

BTW, I would love nothing more than to bulldoze our house and start over. We love our view, but the house itself, is well, less than par. It's especially hard for us because we completely rebuilt our old house after a hurricane and knew it was solid through and through.

Sadie would love the mud too. I can just picture them laughing as they got down and dirty in the mud seeking out all kind of mischief.

I am soooo excited for you! What great news that everything is working out. It's going to be really fun following along - can't wait for the finished product! :)

So glad you are finally past the paperwork and the "real" work has started! Beautiful, beautiful land!

This is so exciting!

Our "Scrapbook"

I've never been proficient at scrapbooking, but I wanted a way of capturing the building of our new home. A blog is the perfect way for two "techies" to accomplish the artistry of capturing memories.

We moved from the Midwest to the East Coast in October 2008. We found our building site in November 2008, and broke ground in October 2009.

Henceforth, The Building of Blackthorn Ridge.
